Origin Notes

Origin note: Sidamo G1 Faysel Abdosh

A natural Ethiopian Bombe lot from Faysel Abdosh, with apricot, strawberry, creamy body and rich floral character.

Faysel Abdosh is one of the more expressive coffees in the launch range. It is an Explorer coffee because the expected profile is fruit-driven, floral and complex rather than simple daily comfort.

Technical details

  • Origin: Ethiopia
  • Region: Sidamo
  • District: Bensa
  • Municipality: Bombe
  • Village: Durto Gerbamo
  • Elevation: 2,150m
  • Varieties: 74118, 74110, 74158

Processing style

The supplier document describes cherry selection of approximately 85% well-ripe cherry, 10% overripe cherry and 5% reddish unripe cherry before flotation. Floaters are removed, then cherries undergo an eight-hour soaking step.

Drying happens on raised beds with about 25kg of cherry per bed and a listed thickness of 5cm. The beds are positioned for more wind and less direct sunlight, with drying taking around 28 days.

Expected cup

The document lists the final outcome as apricot, strawberry, creamy and rich floral. That makes this a coffee to rest properly and brew with care, especially as filter or on a capable espresso setup.
